Brief History

A brief history of Sydwest:

1981:  Sydwest started as a fellowship.
1984: Sydwest purchased existed church building in Cabramatta.
1987:  Rev. Steve Trinh came from Hong Kong to pastor the church.
1991: Due to the needs of the gospel, Rev. Steve Trinh was asked to helped out Campbelltown Chinese Christian Church.
Late 1990s: The English Service started to cater for the next generation youths whose heart language is no longer Chinese.
A sad part of the church history involving a split within the church resulted in Rev. Trinh leaving to start Blacktown Chinese Christian Church. Nevertheless, just as Paul and Barnabas split in Acts, the gospel is continuing to reach out to the Chinese community in western Sydney. The late 90s also saw the coming of Rev. Yeung to Sydwest. Sometimes, God works miracles in ways we don't understand, but we know He promised in Romans 8:28 that "in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
2000s: Mark McCrindle served as English pastor followed by Rod McGregor.
2004: Sydwest celebrated its 20th year in Cabramatta.
2006: English service moved into the main hall to cater for an increase in the numbers attending the service.

God has worked amazingly at Sydwest over the past 20 years - through the happy and not so happy occasions - and we are seeing God continuing to work wonders here. Do you want to see how God will work miracles through you at Sydwest also?
